I think very consciously about paying a premium for things. The original article reminded me of the need to keep questionning habits.

We have moved to a mountain village in Eastern Switzerland. There are two small supermarkets in the village. Part of second-tier national chains. And we have a local butcher.

We want to give them our business, because if we don't then they are no more and they deserve a reward for being here. But that support is not at any price. If something is expensive, like meat, the price of which is enough to turn you into a vegetarian (Entrecote steak is CHF 95 per kg, so about USD 53 per pound), then anything more than a 20% premium is too much.
