At the end of today’s post, a video from our walk home from yoga yesterday evening.
I have never seen a city like this. And—to think—I live in it. Yes, moving to Spain was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
But—
A cautionary tale from a recent post.
Also in today’s post, we cover something I don’t think a lot of people think enough about when moving abroad.
Currency exchange.
Boring, but necessary topic. And something I get a little anxious about. Even though I thought about and planned for it, you can’t predict how things will progress with currency exchange rates—nobody can. You can only act and react as things progress.
I am working hard on Friki de Bici (Bike Geek). This project includes a Substack, but it will be more than a Substack.
I’m working on the website (frikidebici.com is coming soon).
I bought equipment—(GoPro HERO13 Black with chest mount)—to create a camera setup ideal for city cycling.
I’m developing merch.
Soon, I will hit the streets to make connections with local bike shops in Valencia. In mid-May, my wife and I hit the road for San Francisco, Barcelona, Paris and Amsterdam where we’ll spread the word even more.
I cannot wait to share everything with you!
My overarching goal is for Friki de Bici to illustrate and reflect the wonderful bike cultures that exist around the world, while highlighting cool bikes, the people who ride them and the shops that sell them.
Further details in the next two links, plus some context around how you can support my efforts.
To save time, you can just support Friki de Bici now using the above button.
As I foreshadowed in yesterday’s post, I do a fair bit of worrying.
