Find Inspiration And Motivation In The Young And Old, Not Excuses And Rationalization
With the move to Spain nine months out, why I'm more excited than ever
And we’re back.
I took a few days off because my daughter was in town.
We saw Springsteen!
I think it was the 15th time for me. And the first time for my daughter, my wife and her daughter.
At 48, I’m sandwiched almost exactly between my kid and Bruce on age, which, in relation to the pending move and life in general, amplified my already high level of anticipation, excitement and inspiration.
Details, which build off of our last post, in a minute.
But, in the shell of a nut, there’s nothing like being around and observing 20-year old kids with so much life ahead of them and a superhuman 74-year old play an intense, three-plus hour rock-n-roll show to help place the strange thoughts you have at midlife in a healthy context.
But first—
From this point forward, expect our usual, frequent publishing schedule.
Because the move to Spain is now pretty much exactly nine months away. In early January, we’ll take a one-way flight to either Barcelona or Madrid, spend a few days, apply for the visa while we’re there, then head to our new home via train—Valencia, Spain!
We’re already searching short-term apartments in Valencia to stay while we await visa approval (toco madera!) and attempt to secure long-term housing.
This makes now the perfect time to subscribe to the Never Retire newsletter or upgrade to a lifetime, founding membership. For $100, you pay once and never pay again to read every installment now and for the duration. And, of course, you help support my work and the move. Which I appreciate.
I’ll cover everything related to the move in a way you can adapt to your own situation, even if it doesn’t involve a move abroad. These recent installments illustrate what I mean.
Practical personal finance to help navigate the retirement, housing and cost of living crises. A positive and productive mindset meets making your way through midlife and beyond in the healthiest way possible.
Of course, once we get to Spain, you’ll receive near-daily dispatches detailing life on the ground in the country, including how we’re acclimating and adjusting and where we’re traveling. Because we plan to do a fair bit of traveling around Europe.
