The Difference Between Persistence And 'Stupidity'
When you live the semi-retired life, you gotta swallow your pride
To help illustrate my deteriorating eyesight, I give you this.
When I go on walks or find myself awake in bed, I often come up with ideas or ways to package ideas. Particularly headlines. So I text myself these brainstorms as they pop up. Written without my reading glasses, that’s (^) how today’s title looks on my phone.
The difference between persistence and “stupidity.”
It’s a distinction I used to have a super hard time with. Now, it’s merely a reflection I ponder during moments of doubt or reassessment of my goals, objectives and plans.
I put quotes around stupidity because you’re not stupid if you make one of the mistakes we’ll discuss today. You’re not dumb or an idiot either. I have made each of the money mistakes in this story, but I’m not stupid, dumb or an idiot.
These are just hyperbolic words we use to amplify what we think we know and highlight the distance between where we were and how far we’ve come.
