At this point here in the US, everything is disingenuous. Like you've said, there has been decades of neglect, delusion, and denial -but there is so much corruption, lies, and coverups to the point that even protesters motivations can be questioned. Paid protesters have become a regular installation on all political sides, undermining its purpose and meaning.
The US is being steered.. We are watching and experiencing a directive. The "old people" are watching TV and developing opinion on what they are being fed, viewing it as if it is real. And making it their reality.
This nation is bizarre. The people are like Invasion of the Body Snatchers with their culture. If you do not participate in the sham, you are outcast. I have never been more proud to be the black sheep.
Of course, any protest is a good thing. My point here is that the country has gotten to this point because a large segment of the baby boomer and Silent generations don't seem to remember or care what history should have taught them. Many never lived it or it's a distant memory. That doesn't seem to be the case in Spain.
The decline started the day Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon. And was cosolidated when the patriot act was passed and most people in the USA cheered as their rights were taken away.
I might go a little earlier. The assassination of RFK. If he had become president the US might be a different country today. 1968 changed everything and brought Nixon into the picture.
I’m in western Michigan this week, and it’s been heartening to see No Kings protests even in small towns.
‘Course there’s no shortage of Trump flags, either, but it’s progress I’ll take.
Separately, at work I have a sort of “newsfeed” that updates things happening across the system. It’s component to see flights to places like BCN or Brussels cancelled for to work actions, or security advisories due to mass protests. You almost never see one for a domestic station, and that’s a shame.
You should have given a shout out, where were you? I'm in Muskegon. Everything quiet here. The only protesting going on is that we have a draw bridge that goes up too often (in the summer) so many of us have to drive 10 miles out of the way to avoid the long waits.

Well-stated. La verdad.
Nailed it. Say what you will, but the right is masterful at staying on message and conditioning opinions.
Exactly. Fox News started all of this long before Trump. Populists like him are like rats - they just show up when the conditions are ripe.
Rocco. News coverage Insaw said there was a lot of protest in your former home re Trump’s parade.
Does that count?

I'm unsure how to respond to my being old and taking shit for it. So for now I won't.
