Note: Apologies if you’re receiving this installment for a second time, but Substack appeared to have some issues getting emails out the other day so there’s a good chance you never received this. Please disregard and, again, accept my apologies if you have seen this.

Part six of the series hits over the weekend!

Welcome to part five of our series—the Never Retire checklist.

In this series, we detail the key components you’ll probably have to consider if you plan to Never Retire. Of course, you’ll have to consider most of them if you plan to retire traditionally, however you approach each point in decidedly different ways when you know you’ll be working into relative old age.

  • The state of your investments (part one)

  • The state of your cash (part two)

  • Where you live and how much it costs you (part three)

  • Your physical and mental health (which is tied directly to the previous three points, particularly the third one) (part four)

  • The state of the work you do (part five—this installment)

  • Tying all five bullet points together (part six)

The state of the work you do

I was born in Niagara Falls, New York.

Sounds incredibly romantic.

Once upon a time it was.

Today, the actual Falls—as in, America’s largest waterfall—still looks beautiful.

The rest of my hometown is—to put it kindly—a shithole.
