I had no choice but to risk using an expletive in the subject line of this email because there’s really no other way to put it if we’re having a real conversation.

The other day,

Anne Boyd
mentioned my Substack as a resource for people considering a move abroad. Anne writes Audacious Women, Creative Lives, which went viral on Substack in June when
Kirsten Powers
mentioned it.

Two audacious women writing creatively about the cool shit they have done, are doing and have yet to do. I highly recommend both publications.

In a comment to Anne’s recent post, I said—

Thank you, Anne, for including my Substack in your article… I read your work each week and always learn something. Plus, it's inspiring as hell. What a journey and courage.

My wife and I leave for Spain in less than two weeks. So I am and will be writing a lot about the process, but also the more abstract factors. Life on the ground in Spain, yes, but also about being a doer. That is what so much of what we're all discussing comes back to. Overcoming fear to let yourself be challenged, leave comfortable situations, try new things and do cool shit!

I have an audacious woman in my life.

My wife.

We often consider audaciousness when we discuss not only the move we’re making to Spain in just 10 days (!), but the personal and professional risks associated with the move. An objectively big risk (I guess) that more often than not doesn’t feel like much of a risk at all.

Let’s use my situation, my wife’s situation, and our situation together to explain what I mean.
