Fun! looks like they have a pretty good system of bike lanes. Sometime I think in the late 80's the mayor of NYC installed bike lanes, on 6th or 8th Avenue, I can't remember. They were the cement dividers. Anyhoo, a bit later, the local news reported that the bikers were avoiding that avenue and traveling on non-bike lanes roads instead. Never mentioning that the reason was, at each intersection the bike lanes were packed with pedestrians. While your video might have been aimed at the road, there were no feet in your way. :)
It's an incredible system. And it's also pretty easy to ride in the street. Way less stressful and dangerous than in the US.
Apparently, there are more than 100 miles of protected bike lanes in Valencia. It's remarkable what they have done here. After fighting off a conservative government that wanted to turn it into a car-centric city, they have done amazing things.
NYC has done a lot in recent years to increase bike lanes but there is still a problem with people and cars respecting them. Someone did a video about riding in the lanes and how many times they had to to stop because of an obstruction. According to facts there are supposed to be 650 miles of bike lanes here. Sure doesn't feel that way.
Check out Paris. What they have done is remarkable and shows what's possible. There's just about zero widespread will in the US. Even in otherwise great cities. It sucks.
