It's not easy to step off but so important that we know when too much is too much. It's part of the work life balance. sounds like you saw it was out of whack and made a correction. Carry on.
Rocco!! This is so inspiring! Thank you for the courage to do it and also write about it. Your words have helped put some clarity to my work situation.
Thank you again for the kind words! That really means a lot to me.
On a selfish note, I'm bummed to see the Friki de Bici shutting down- it's an easy way to vicariously live the expat life. As a fellow writer, I *get it*. Doubling down on what works and shedding what doesn't --and knowing when to do either-- is a critical skill.
I appreciate it. As you know, I tend to go all-in. However, I also know when I am climbing uphill in territory I don't belong in. Sometimes you need to be humbled. It's frustrating at first, but I feel lighter now. And I will keep riding my bike (and writing a bit about it in Never Retire!).
And the kind words are true! You are among the best I've ever read - music writing or otherwise. You're going to have a solid second act, no doubt informed by a wide-ranging first one!!
By the way, we saw a Spanish Oasis tribute band at a venue called Radio City the other weekend. They were damn good!!
Just a thought, why not keep the YT channel as it is, for anyone who wants to watch what you’ve already done? It was a bit of fun, showed the practical aspects of riding around the city, and doesn’t have to be a money maker. You might find a bike related thing you want to share down the track and if you keep the channel you’ll have a place to share it, with the right audience.
The channel is hidden because deleting it would have also deleted by viewing history which impacts recommendations and such. I didn't want that. So I guess what you say is a possibility.
I hear you on video; a month or so back, somebody said I must try Descript and video is so much better than the written word. He added that people don’t want to write. I out in some effort and did one - but I could see how much effort would be needed to be good at this. So, I think I’ll leave it.
BTW I always say there is DIY and PSE, pay somebody else. There are plenty of cases where I default to PSE.

Adelante!

Nice! I'll have to see if I can find them online!

That was my thought as well. Something might come up on a ride that ties in well with Never Retire.
Kudos for sharing.
