Encouraging idea to pivot. Kudos for doing it now.

Maybe I can chip in a few things along the way. Here is one for starters:

Many will have heard that In Switzerland we have rules. For locals and Swiss citizens permanently resident abroad, that translates to having our flock register and being counted. If you live here in CH, whether you are a Swiss citizen or not, you must register with your local council / city / municipality. If you are Swiss and live abroad you must register with the consulate / embassy.

So, we are moving for the first time in 23 years, from a village outside Zurich to our other home in the mountains, in Lenzerheide. Municapl admin is sufficiently advanced that the formal moving admin can be done online. The process asked me: a) Where from / to, b) my social security number and c) the id number from my private medical insurance. And that was it. For a modest fee.

It even asked me if my wife wanted to move too. Now I am not sure if that is efficient data management or the age-old Swiss tradition of treating wives as tagging along with their husbands.

I think that is a modern trend, in that she might NOT want to move with you, so they did not want to change her address and other info without confirming it with you first. Very progressive of them!

I have enjoyed "Never Retire" as a "never quit on living a vibrant life with meaningful activity" that might be traditional work--or not. Does my lifetime subscription continue in the new venture or is a new subscription required to continue reading? Thanks!

Never Retire is what brought me into the fold. A deep understanding and comparison about the state of the US and its culture -truly how it works and how it doesn't. And the diversity of your members contributing stories from all over the world, makes this move a natural progression. NR had already changed the moment you settled in Spain, there was no way for it not to. Cheers to the evolution!

Hi, Rocco. Thanks for the update from Never Retire to How It Works. I promise to become a "Founding Member" in the New Year. It will cost me about $160 CAD with the exchange rate, but I'm paying half of that now @$7.00 CAD a month. Your writing has proven its value for me so you're worth the Founding Member rate.

I leave for London in exactly 21 days and have a great itinerary planned. My currency problem has been solved thanks to my secondary bank. It has a VISA Debit card, which I didn't know I already had. This card enables me to buy with a tap, instantly converting my CAD to US dollars, British pounds and euros (at present). Other currencies are available and more are being added regularly. I'm bringing only £100 in cash just because. Some vendors in London may still take cash, and my hotel person might like a cash tip when I check out. I will send you a note and a few pix when I return home.

First snow of the season has fallen here in the Great Lakes region of Canada. We got 5 cm (2"). Looks pretty, not too messy.

Take it easy, have a great week.

Sounds like a great idea. the Never Retire title can be a bit confusing and limiting.( i for one want to retire and did ) I wondered how many topics you could come up with that fit this box. Now your're limitless. Looking forward to how it evolves.
