More Costs To Expect When Moving Abroad
It's about more than the expenses you incur to secure a visa
As indicated earlier in the week when I ran down the estimated costs of applying for a visa to legally reside in Spain, moving abroad isn’t inexpensive.
In fact, it’s pretty expensive.
While this doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it (though, because I haven’t actually done it yet, I can’t definitively say that it absolutely is worth it), it’s still something to consider if you’re thinking of moving to a foreign country.
While I fully expect that we’ll start saving—(and saving!)—money and that we’ll love life in Spain from the second we set foot there, the upfront costs are something most of us mere money mortals need to plan for. Thankfully, it’s in my nature to plan ahead. Way ahead.
As I noted the other day, I put a strategy or two in place months ago designed to ease the brunt of the startup costs associated with relocating to Spain. It’s a weight off of my sometimes anxious shoulders to see these anticipatory plans exceeding expectations and operating ahead of schedule.
So much of this is about having stores of cash set aside today, through the end of 2024 and—(hopefully)—deep into 2025 to cover not only the visa process, but additional expenses such as—
