I was right— Let’s say we see a 6% rent hike in 2024. With inflation cooling, let’s cut it in half for 2025. And, for the ease of illustration, let’s assume a 3% increase, every year, for the next ten years. That would bring our rent to $1,994.69 by 2035. When I’m 60 years old.

You can come up with a plethora of life situations to make the point I hope to make in today’s story. But inflation—and how we react to it—is as good as any. Because increased cost of living often dictates the money-related choices we make in the day to day as well as long-term decisions around how we work, what we spend and where we live.

It blows my mind how people view inflation and other external forces that impact life.

So many tend to play the helpless, passive victim. And the ones who do act often follow a strategy that’s super difficult to touch and feel in your daily life or even realistically vision in the long-term. And we often do this absent any real knowledge of how a mysterious force such as inflation is actually affecting us on our actual turf.
