One of my recent pet peeves over at Medium is people commenting on move to Spain articles with one or another yeah but.

Yeah but, you’ll get double-taxed because the US taxes on worldwide income.

Yeah but, you’ll still have to pay the US self-employment tax.

Yeah but, to avoid double taxation, you’ll have to give up your US passport, which I wouldn’t recommend.

I especially love that last part.

Believe it or not, uninformed comment section skeptics (thank goodness this type is pretty much non-existent on Substack), I’m not making this move by the seat of my pants with huge unanswered questions. I’ve done my research, then checked and quadruple-checked it.
