I have been writing a fair bit about my childhood and family experience at Medium lately. From all of this thinking I have been doing comes a pretty certain conclusion—If I had never left home at age 19, I probably wouldn’t be doing it again in the year when I will turn 50.

Having watched many of the people I grew up around get older I knew I wanted to do something big with the second act of my life. Of course, for a long time, I didn’t know exactly what. However, a few things happened that set the course for what’s happening and about to happen.
